On the morning of 10th of July, the international workshop on Matrix analysis and application, which is sponsored by International linear Algebra Society, National Natural foundation of China, Zhejiang Natural foundation, and hosted by ZFU, has opened with ceremony in the No.1 auditorium in East Lake Campus Library. More than 200 Delegates who are from 11 countries and areas such as U.S, Canada, Portugal, Iran, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Taiwan etc., as well as Chinese participants have attended the workshop, with a harmonious and academic atmosphere.
As one of the major activities within international matrix and linger algebra domain, the convention aims to deepen the understanding of matrix analysis, matrix calculation, as well as the new achievements of investigation of matrix applications in domain of statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, systematic cybernetics, information, material chemical engineering, agriculture, forestry, medicine, and so on. The convention also promotes the academic and cooperation globally, along with providing the opportunity for young scholars home and abroad to communicate and exchange.
The president of the IWMAA Organizing committee, President of ZFU Mr. Zhou Guomo proposed a speech on the opening ceremony. He sincerely welcomed overseas and Chinese experts in the domain of international Matrix Theory and Its application to gather in ZFU, together communicating and discussing on Matrix analysis and application.
Zhou Guomo said that it was such an honor for ZFU to host this international Workshop, since the new achievements of matrix analysis and its application have emerged constantly, IWMAA is getting more influential. Mr. Zhou also made a brief introduction of ZFU to the guests, expecting their precious opinions and suggestions.
The convention which will last for three days has1invited 18 speakers, include Professor Chikwong Li from William and Mary College, who is also the vice-president of ILAS, chief Editor of Linear Algebra and Applications near Multilinear Algebra . Professor Li has e a speech named quantum computing, complete positive linger change, and numerical range . Besides, the convention also has 4 more grouping reports, which respectively center on the topics of traditional matrix theory, combined matrix theory, numerical range matrix theory, and the application of matrix theory.
The convention has received 583 contributions of thesis abstracts, published 281 by selection. The collection of thesis abstracts The Proceedings of the 3rd International Workshop on Matrix Analysis and Applications has been published by world academic press. Every abstract in this collection will be embodied by ISTP, and the complete thesis will be published by The Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra ELA)as monograph. ELA is published by ILA, and retrieved by SCI. the closing date of submitting the thesis is 30th of Aug.2009, estimated to be published in the end of 2009.
