Construction of the New Main Building Started

In order to meet the demand of an increasing scale of art study and education as well as further highlighting the fashion elements and artistic atmosphere in BIFT, construction of a new main building was started on the site of the former dining hall. The total area of the building is planned to reach 30,000 square meters, consisting of 9 stories and 3 basements.

When construction is complete, the building will accommodate all the art and fashion design teaching activities, professional fashion shows and other relevant practices and experiments, plus an equipment center as well as a civil air-raid shelter. On Oct.17 2009, several VIPs attended the foundation festivities and red ribbon ceremony, among whom were Mr.

Zhao Fengtong, a member of the standing committee of the Municipal Party Committee and the chief of Beijing Municipal Education Committee, and Mr. Du Yuzhou, the director of the China Textile Industry Association.
