President Jiang Chengyu Attends Anniversary of Moscow Power Engineering Institute

At the invitation of Sergey V. Serebriannikov, president of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, President Jiang Chengyu attended in Dec 2010 the celebration of 80th anniversary of Moscow Power Engineering Institute. The delegation is made up of three persons President Jiang Chengyu, He Guoqiang, dean of School of Power and Energy, and Wang Changqing, a faculty member from School of Automatic Control.

During the meeting with the president of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, President Jiang extends on behalf of NPU his warm congratulations to Moscow Power Engineering Institute for the celebration of its 80th anniversary. In his congratulatory address, he points out in particular that the two universities have a long history of cooperation, affirms their cooperation achievements and places his earnest hope on their future cooperation.

He and his delegation also visit the power system teaching and research section, the steam and gas turbine teaching and research section, the control and information teaching and research section and the relevant laboratories at the Institute. The visit further enhances the cooperation and exchange between the two universities.

The cooperation between the two universities dates back to 2002, when the NPU faculty member Wang Changqing went to Moscow Power Engineering Institute to study for his auxiliary PhD degree and earned his degree there. Thereafter Zheng Guanghua, a faculty member from School of Power and Energy, also earned his auxiliary PhD degree there.

Two groups of NPU faculty members go there to receive training. Moscow Power Engineering Institute sends dozens of its professors to NPU for academic exchange. In 2009, it purchased six sets of experimental apparatus from School of Automatic Control at NPU; thus it becomes the first to import experimental apparatuses from NPU and sets a good example for cooperation on experimental apparatus.
