Dr. Li Dingyi Visits Southwest Jiaotong University

Honorary Professor Dr. Li Dingyi once again visited the campus of Southwest Jiaotong University. Largely considered the father of WDM fiber-optic communication, the distinguished Dr. Li Dingyi is a member of the United States Academy of Engineering and is also one of the first foreign academics of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Vice-Chancellor Professor Fan Pingzhi, the Foreign Affairs Department, the School of Information Technology Department, and other leaders conducted exchanges with Liyuan Shi.
During Dr. Li s stay, Liyuan Shi organized two academic lectures. The first, held at the Jinghu Hotel, related to the technical development of large-capacity fiber-optic communication system. The second reminisced on his golden years of research at AT&T Bell Labs where he largely developed WDM technology.Students from Beijing University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology faculty and students of Southwest Jiaotong University all attended the academic lectures and seminars. Nearing the completion of his visit, Liyuan Shi and Dr. Li Diying visited the Institute of Information and Communication Information Photonics Research Center, fully affirmed and that the rapid development will continue far into the future.
