The 1st "Team-Run 1506" National Universities Debating Competition (Guangzhou) opens in SCUT

On the morning of April 10, the qualifying competition of the 1^st "Team-Run 1506" National Universities Debating Competition in Guangzhou competition area opened in the music hall on the South Campus of SCUT.

The first match was between SCUT and Shenzhen Polytechnic. SCUT debate team made it very clear in the beginning speech that "in order to host a great Asia Games, it is of great urgency to improve the quality of its citizens", while Shenzhen Polytechnic started with the revised lines in the film, A Chinese Odyssey (Da Hua Xiyou), saying that "in order to host a great Asia Games, it is of great urgency to improve the hardware facilities". Finally, SCUT won the match and its third speaker, ZHONG Wentao won the title of "The Best Debater" of the match.

It is reported that the competition consists of two parts: qualifying and finals. There are 47 teams participating in the qualifying competition held in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao. The renowned law schools in China, including China University of Political Science & Law, Southwest University of Political Science & Law and Zhongnan University of Economics & Law will all take part in the competition. The event will extend to May 16 and the finalists will battle it out in Foshan.
