On March 5, the Fourth session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) was held in The Great Hall of the People in Beijing. About 3,000 deputies to the NPC attended the session. As a deputy to the 11th NPC, Prof. SHA Zhenquan, who was from School of Business Administration at SCUT, attended the session.
Sha introduced a bill on the promotion of Internet industry, which was hitherto one of the six bills introduced by Guangdong delegation. In his opinion, as one of the most thriving industries in China at present, Internet still has the potential to be a new growth point of economy. However, the existing laws have been completely incompatible with the Internet industry. The bill was attached with his draft Internet Industry Promotion Act of the PRC, which provides a reference for the subsequent legislation.
Based on the recent frequent occurrences of food safety crisis like the notorious milk scandal, which has somehow triggered economic and social crisis, SHA wrote a proposal on further improvement of food safety and supervision, suggesting that Food Safety Commission release a professional evaluation for domestic milk powder monthly, even weekly so as to rebuild people's trust in home-made food.
