From April 26th to May 1st, a delegation of JNU headed by Prof. Jiang Shuzhuo, vice president paid a visit to MahatmaGandhiUniversity, University of Delhi, JawahalalNehruUniversity, University of Mumbai and RIS of India. Other members of the delegation include: Prof. Jia Haitao, Director of Institute of Chindia Studies, Prof. Su Baogui, vice Dean of Medical School, Prof. Yao Guoxiang, Dean of College of Information Science and Technology and Ms. Yu Huifen, Director of the International Affairs Office.
During the visit to MahatmaGandhiUniversity, Prof. Jiang signed a memorandum of understanding with Prof. M R Unni , Registrar of the university on mutual cooperation. An addendum agreement was also signed between the Institute of Chindia Studies of JNU and the School of International Relations and Politics of MGU. The visit was widely and positively covered by local media.
During the visit to University of Delhi, the delegation had a meeting with leaders from the university on possible cooperation in the fields of Buddhism and International Relations studies.
During the visit to JawahalalNehruUniversity, both parties focused on how to carry out substantive exchange and cooperation based on the cooperative agreement between the two sides signed in 2005.
During the visit to University of Mumbai, the University expressed its strong interest in soliciting support on Chinese teaching from JNU.
RIS is an autonomous research institution established with the financial support from the Government of India. It is India's contribution to the fulfillment of the long-felt need of the developing world for creating a think tank on global issues in the field of international economic relations and development cooperation. RIS and JNU discussed the possibility of exchanges and cooperation in relevant research fields.
