The new Consul General of Thailand in Guangzhou, Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, paid a visit to Jinan University on Dec. 14th, accompanied by consul Jidapa Lumyong and consul Kemawadee Osathaphan. President Hu Jun received the guests. Ms. Yu Huifen, Director of the International Affairs Office attended the meeting.
President Hu warmly welcomed the guests, and briefed the guests about the basic situation of JNU, its cooperation with overseas universities, especially those in Thailand. He also introduced to the consul general the campus life of Thai students in the university. President Hu expressed his hope that the co-operations and exchanges in culture and scientific research with Thailand can be strengthened.
Mr. Suvanajata spoke highly on Jinan University. He expressed his wish that the 16th Asian Games and 35th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Thai diplomatic relationship in 2010 will bring more chances of collaboration between JNU and Thailand.
After the meeting, the guests visited the College of Chinese Language and Culture. Mr. Guo Xi, Dean of the College, Mr. Zeng Yiping, Deputy Dean, Mr. Zhang Jun, Head of Overseas Chinese Education Department, Mr. Tong Shengqiang, Head of the Chinese Language Department received the delegation. Consul General also met with Thai students studying in the college.
