Because of the outstanding contribution in strengthening the relations between China and France and the dissemination of French history, language and culture, Professor Tang Kaijian from the Institute of Ancient Document Studies of Jinan University was awarded Chevalier of French Education .
Mr. Jean-Raphael Peytregnet, Consul General of France in Guangzhou said in the conferrence speech, Professor Tang was one of the Chinese experts in the study of Christian history and the history of relationship between China and the West, specializing in the fields of French sinology and French missionaries. Professor Tang's research and teaching focused on the history of Christianity in China and France sinologist, as well as French missionaries who spread religions, western music and manufacturing technology of watch in China.
The French Education Medal was first established on March 17, 1808, in recognition of educators who make significant contribution in education, research and technology in universities. It is awarded to outstanding personalities who positively develop academic cooperation with France.
