The Shanghai Tongji University witnessed the celebration ceremony of Sino-German Science and Education Year 2009/2010 and the opening and signing ceremony of both Sino-German Electronic Vehicles Forum and Sino-German EV Joint Research Centre, which were cosponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology MOST , the Ministry of Education, and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research on June 2nd.
Wan Gang, minister of Science and Technology, Chen Xi, vice-minister of Education and Annette Schavan, minister of German Federal Education and Research attended and addressed the ceremony. Meanwhile, Yang Yong, vice-president of HUST, Huang Yunhui, professor from College of Materials Science and Engineering, together with personnel from Office of Science and Technology Development and International Exchange Center were invited to the ceremony.
Headed by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST, the Sino-German EV Joint Research Centre is co-established by its first group of members of four Chinese Universities, namely, Tongji University, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as six German Universities, RWTH Aachen, University of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe Institut of Technologie, Technical University Munich Technische Universit t Munchen , Technische Universit t Darmstadt, Technische Universit t BERLIN, with the aim to conduct joint research on motors, batteries and key electronic control technologies of electric cars, infrastructure and operation mode and electric cars' customer base.
The ceremony ended with an agreement, Sino-German scientific cooperation memorandum of electric vehicles signed by Minister Wan Gang and Minister Schavan.
Before the ceremony, a conference was held for proposals of projects by universities from both countries. And Huang Yunhui, professor from HUST, with personnel from Office of Science and Technology Development, was invited to the conference, introducing the advantages of HUST in EV research and making clearer the idea about cooperation.
