On June 5, 2007, taking advantage of an official meeting in Beijing, President Ke Gong met world-renowned Nano-Scientist Professor Flemming Basenbacher from University of Aarhus in Denmark. Professor Basenbacher came to China for ChinaNANO2007 international conference with two of his students, and he brought with him a proposed MOU between University of Aarhus and Tianjin University.
President Gong gave Professor Basenbacher a brief review of the history and present research situation of Tianjin University, in which Professor Basenbacher showed a lot of interest. In his talk, Professor Basenbacher showed that he was looking forward to visiting Tianjin University some time this fall, and he expected the future cooperation with Tianjin University.
Professor Basenbacher is well known for his research and achievement for the development and use of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), and has published over 200 academic papers, including papers in Science and Nature. Facilitated by Professor Changjun Liu from the School of Chemical Engineering of Tianjin University, substantial cooperation will take place between Tianjin University and University of Aarhus.
Present at the meeting in Beijing were Professor Fuling Yang, Director of International Cooperation Office of Tianjin University, and Ms. Yuanyuan He from the same office.
