The peak group representing vegetable growers has invited West Gippsland potato producers to give feedback on a national plan to combat potato cyst nematode (PCN). The disease is considered one of the worst threats to Australia's potato production. A meeting for growers will be held at the Warragul Country Club tomorrow night.
AusVeg spokesman William Churchill says potato growers will have to implement the plan in the future. "What this means is that growers have the opportunity to have input in ... the PCN national plan at your level, right at the grower, so it's an extremely important opportunity for growers to get their thoughts on how the plan should be implemented through to the people who are putting it together," he said.
