ZSTU deeply mourned for Yushu earthquake victims

On April 20th, State Council declared: to express deep condolence of Chinese people of all ethnic groups to Qinghai earthquake victims, State Council decides to carry out a national condolence activity on April 21st, 2010, when the whole nation and embassies abroad half-mast the flag and all the public entertainments stop. All the teachers and students of ZSTU have paid special attention to Qinghai Yushu 7.1 degree earthquake for days. ZSTU answered State Council s announcement immediately and asked all the campus entertaining activities to be cancelled that day.

On April 21st, ZSTU hoisted the flag at half-mast for condolence in front of the library. Before the opening ceremony of ZSTU cadre training class at 2 o clock pm, ZSTU Party Secretary Fei Junqing led all the members to rise and mourn. Each college and department expressed their mourning in different ways. College of Apparel proposed that all the teachers and students rise and mourn for three minutes (4:21-4:23) that day. Some students even flied Kongming lantern in memory of the victims at night. Labor Union organized a donation named be concerned about Yushu and contribute our love , which would be completed before April 27th. At 14:30 of 21st, teachers and students of human resources management grade 09 class 1 gathered on the playground and paved the Chinese characters Yushu with pure-white balloons. National flag on hand, they displayed the throbbing, unbending, strong and fraternal heart of Yushu by their emotion and action. They stood still for 3 minutes to mourn for the victims. Donation was carried out after the ceremony and all the students present took part in. On that day, youth league branch of College of Economics and Management held the mourning ceremony at classroom 129, south of Building 2 and watched related video.

Meanwhile, all the students organizations of ZSTU spontaneously organized a variety of activities to express condolence and best wishes to Yushu compatriots. On the culture square of Student Center, ZSTU Youth League Union carried out the activity Yushu s tomorrow will be better because of you , during which students prayed for Yushu people by folding up paper cranes, writing blessing words and wearing green ribbons symbolizing hope; students of handsign club conveyed the idea of mutual support in hardship by handsign show; ZSTU Youth Association and ZSTU Red Cross Branch organized donation on the spot. ZSTU Student Union added the content of national condolence on the publicity board Today in History and expressed their blessing by the form of black and white art poster. At 6 o clock pm, members of handsign volunteer service club also held the activity of mourning and asking for blessing by lighting candles on the culture square.
