Academic Seminar on Yao Siyuan s Thoughts of Music Education was Held by the University

Co-sponsored by the Society for Music Education of China Musician Association, Beijing Musician Association and Capital Normal University, hosted by the college of music of CN the Academic Seminar on Yao Siyuan s Thoughts of Music Education was held on October 29, 2005 at the college of music in our university.

Professor Yao Siyuan, once a teacher of CNU, is a well known musician, music educationist and composer of contemporary China, who has made enormous contribution to the music education of China on music teaching, music theory study and music creation.

In the Seminar, a special documentary entitled The Musician, Scholar and Teacher which is made for the Music Life program of CCTV was played. It looked back professor Yao Siyuan s 60 years of exploration on the development of music education of China. In the afternoon, 15 scholars from the music colleges and normal universities all over the country read their thesis and communicated with each other on the results of professor Yao Siyuan on music education theory study, music history study, composing technique theory study, basic music education study, music education and international communication, etc.

After the lectures of the scholars, a concert named Yao Siyuan s music works was held by the College of Music, China Juvenile Broadcast Chorus and Beijing Huiwen High school. The Seminar will consequentially generate a positive and profound affect on the field of music and music education in China.
