On May 14, Prof. Carlo Naldi, Vice President of Politecnico Di Torino (PDT), Prof. Baldi, director of Sino-Italian project of PDT, as well as responsible personnel from their international department, visited SCUT. Vice President ZHANG Zhengang held cordial talks with the guests. Relative personnel from the School of Architecture, School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, School of Electronic and Information Engineering, and School of Computer Science and Engineering were also present at the meeting.
Prof. Carlo Naldi introduced the school-running tenets, missions, current status and development strategy of teaching and research of PDT, and highlighted the cooperative talents cultivation programs with Tongji University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, etc. Vice President ZHANG Zhengang also introduced the basic information of teaching, research, and social services in SCUT. The two parties reached a consensus on relevant issues like teacher and student exchanges, and would sign cooperative agreements to promote long-term cooperation between the two universities.
It is known that established in 1859, PDT is the earliest founded state-owned university of science and technology in Italy. It currently offers 120 majors, ranking 5th in European polytechnic universities and 1st in Italian universities of engineering and technology.
