On the morning of May 9, SCUT lecture series to promote the management ability of Grade 2008 engineering postgraduates pulled its curtain open with the first two lectures given by renowned experts on enterprise strategy management and human resource management. According to the characteristics of professional degree education, the University offers public elected courses for the whole engineering postgraduate grade in the form of lectures.

This innovative move is an important part of the University's reform on engineering postgraduate programs. On the same day, ZHU Min, Vice President and Dean of Graduate School, interpreted to the reporters new policies of SCUT professional degree enrollment in 2009.

Zhu said that as the leading unit of the degree-standard research panel of national advisory committee of engineering postgraduate professional degree education, SCUT attaches great importance to the education quality of engineering masters. According to the characteristics of the degree candidates, the University recently has launched a series of reform measures on professional degree education with the emphasis laid on the comprehensive capabilities of compound talents, aiming to optimize the course structures.

Zhu interpreted some points of the new admission policy of professional degree education in 2009, concerning the admission schedule, specialty admission quota, courses and certificates, running schools in other places, as well as offering courses at Foshan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, etc.

Prof. LAN Hailin, one lecturer from the School of Business Administration, believed that the lecture series can integrate favorable resources for students to access the fronts of their subjects; meanwhile they combine the engineering technological theory, practice, and modern engineering management, which marks the direction for the University's engineering master's degree education.
