Mr. Xu Yifan, Deputy Commissioner, met with Mr. Bert Hofman, Lead Economist of the World Bank Office in China on 13 September 2006. Mr. Hofman and his colleagues in the World Bank s fact-finding mission visited the NBS to discuss the World Bank s Country Report on China Economy: Building an Economized Society , which is the twelfth one in the past two decades under the program with the Financial Ministry of China.
Mr. Xu recognized that the past 11 country reports on China economy drafted by the World Bank have attracted high attention from the Chinese Government and played an important role in the economic reform and development in China. This report sets its theme as Building an Economized Society is quite responsive to the current problems in economic development in China. He also expressed the NBS cooperativeness with the World Bank in terms of data provision. To Support a successful drafting of the report, NBS would provide its existing data and make its efforts to do further tabulations based on the specific requirements of the World Bank where appropriate. |
