Baosteel's First Management Project Transplanted in Ma Steel

On May 21, Ma Steel and Baosteel held a meeting to celebrate the event that Baosteel has completed the contract to provide management consultation service to Ma Steel, namely to export Baosteel's management mode on the grass roots level with the line-chief system as its core to Ma Steel. On September 25, 2002, Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. signed a management consultation service contract with Ma Steel to export Baosteel's management mode on the grass roots level to Ma Steel's steel making plant, hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill.

During the promotion of the Project, both sides cooperated well; Baosteel has provided different training programs to Ma Steel's line-chiefs, team leaders and persons qualified to teach teachers, more than 700 people have participated in the programs. More than 200 people of Ma Steel such as line-chiefs and persons concerned have been to Baosteel to visit the site and study, students who have received the training at Baosteel have completed nearly 400 papers of different themes.

Ma Steel's reform on the grass roots level has achieved the primary success. The new system and new mechanism have basically taken shape; the management mode on the grass roots level has gradually changed to standardization, systematization and management process; the culture at the site has gradually embodied the feature of self-determination, procedure and effectiveness.

In the future, Baosteel will continue to support Ma Steel during the promotion of the project and help to improve it, to make the project, which is the first of its kind in China, a successful example.
