On 5th June, Prof. Chaoyang Wang of the Penn State University, USA, was invited to visit DICP and to deliver a memorial lecture for the 60th Anniversay of DICP. His lecturing topic was "Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells: Current Status and Future Prospects". This was the 5th Memorial Lecture in the DICP Anniversary Cerebration Program.
Prof. Wang's lecturing session was presided over by Prof. SUN Gongquan of DICP. After the lecture, an Honoring Certificate for the Memorial Lecture and a Certificate of Senior Partner Research Professorship of DICP were given to Prof. Wang on behalf of DICP by Prof. LIU Zhongmin, Vice-Director of DICP. Prof. Wang was also invited to visit the Laboratory of Fuel Cells of DICP, where he conducted discussions with Prof. YI Baolian, Member of CAS, Prof. SUN Gonquan and Prof. SHAO Zhigang on detailed cooperation programs between his research team and DICP.
Prof. Wang holds at present a Distinguished Professorship of Materials and Engineering in Penn State University. His research interests include fuel cells and secondary batteries. As the founder of the Electrochemical Engineering Center of Penn State University, he has been bestowed upon many awards, such as the Professional Honor Award of the American National Science Foundation, the Outstanding Youth Award of the Chinese National Natural Science Foundation Committee, and the 2006 Important Research Award of the Penn State Engineering Society.
He is also a senior technical consultant to the United Nations Development Program. He has published more than 150 papers, obtained 16 US patents, and written a number of monographs and reviews. His papers were cited more than 4,500 times by the SCI, and ranged as the top 20 most-cited authors in SCI in the recent 10 years.
