Prof. Daniel Figeys of the Ottawa University, Canada, was invited to deliver a memorial lecture for the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of DICP on 3rd August. The topic of his lecture was "Proteomic technology of the study of rare cells".
The lecturing session was chaired by Prof. ZHANG Lihua of the Bio-Tech Division of DICP, and Prof. ZOU Hanfa, on behalf of the institute, presented to Prof. Figeys an Honorary Lecture Certificate for the Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of DICP.
Prof. Figeys obtained his Ph. D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Alberta in 1995. He is at present Permanent Professor of Ottawa University and Director of Ottawa Institute of Systems Biology. His main research interests include mass-spectroscopic analysis of protein-protein interaction in living organisms, development of technologies and methodologies for Proteomics, as well as lipidomics. He has published many important papers in journals such as Nature, Molecular Systems Biology, Molecular & Cellular Proteomics, and Journal of Proteome Research. He is also Editorial Board Member of Analytical Chemistry, Journal of Proteome Research, and Journal of Mass Spectrometry.
