The 16th Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Convened

Hosted by the Standing Committee of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, the 16th Plenary (Enlarged) Session of the 11th CPC Changsha Municipal Committee was convened in Changsha on Nov.11. Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Chen Run'er delivered a keynote speech at the session.

The noticeable achievements reaped in Changsha's social and economic development during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period were fully affirmed at the meeting. In addition, due attention was given to an in-depth analysis of the new environment that Changsha will encounter with in the social and economic development during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. Later on, Secretary Chen pointed out the course of Changsha's development in the future when delivering a speech.

The session has put forward the following main goals for Changsha' s economic and social development in the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period: endeavors should be made to maintain a sound and rapid economic development, to make structural adjustment more effective, to upgrade urban functions, to strengthen innovation capacities, to accelerate the pace of reform and opening up, to optimize the environment and to press ahead with social development in an all-round way.

With concerted efforts of citizens citywide, Changsha is expected to take lead in forging itself into a "Two-oriented" (resource-conserving and environmentally-friendly) City and basically attaining the goal of building a moderately prosperous society by the year of 2015.
