With an investment of 14.2 billion yuan, the phase I project of Changsha Metro Line 1 was officially started on Dec. 26 and is expected to be put into use by the end of 2014.

Stretching 23.55 kilometers from north to south, this backbone of Changsha rail transportation starts from Changsha North Bus Station, ends at Wanjiali Road Station, and is cross-connected to the phase I project of Changsha Metro Line 2.

1 elevated station and 19 underground stations will be equipped along the line including stations of Changsha North Bus Station, Fuyuan Road, Xinhe Delta, Kaifu Temple, Xiangya Road, Yingpan Road, Wuyi Square, Renmin Road, Chengnan Road, Houjiatang, Nanhu Road, Chihuang Road, Xinjian West Road, Railway Institute of Central South University, Youyi Road, Hunan Provincial People s Government, Times-Sun Road, Potang Road, Dabai Road and Wanjiali Road.
