Changsha ranks the 8th among provincial capital cities across the country in terms of the total tourism revenue in 2010.
According to the statistics released by the Changsha Municipal Tourism Bureau on Jan.21, the city received 48.5462 million tourists from home and abroad last year, generating a total income of 45.799 billion yuan.
Taiwan tourists and trips by Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway were tipped as two highlights besides the boom of the inbound tourism of Changsha. 140,000 Taiwan visitors toured the city in 2010, a year-on-year growth of 30.14%. More than 7.21 million visitors from more than 2,900 travel troupes arrived in the city by the high-speed railway, creating a total revenue of 10.5 billion yuan.
In 2011, Changsha will strive to attract 59.831 million tourists with the total revenue to hit 55 billion yuan. Great endeavors will be made to increase international tourist routes in a drive to further boost the city's tourism industry.
