"I came to Changsha for the first time but I feel quite at home. People here are very hospitable." said Stephen Gordon Hendry, a Scottish professional snooker player and the youngest-ever snooker World Champion, in Changsha Star Snooker Club on the morning of March 6, 2011.
When asked whether after retirement he would like to be a coach in China where he has won numerous fans, Hendry said, "I like Chinese cuisine, but I may not be a good cook in China. As for coaching in China, I mean, why not?"
He spoke highly of Ding Junhui, a Chinese professional snooker player, "It is probable for him to become a world champion. Liang Wenbo has a downturn now. However, there is no need for China to draw on the experience from Britain, because snooker is much better developed in China than in Britain." added he.
While interacting with fans, he made many peculiar actions. Taking off his coat with only a short shirt left, Hendry returned around the table and held the cue to compete with the fans.
The famous snooker player, also known as the Snooker Emperor, was not as aloof as people imagine the emperor would be. Giving a hint that there were odds and ends on the table, he pretended to throw away them. Sometimes, when the fans did not play well, he would cover his eyes by hands, pretending not to see. All these actions set the fans roaring with laughter.
