Taiwan-based notebook makers Quanta Computer, Wistron and Inventec have announced their revenues for October. Quanta and Wistron saw an on-month drop, while Inventec had growth.

Quanta announced consolidated revenues of NT$90.12 billion US$2.98 billion for October, down 6.8% on month, but up 4.8% on year, while shipping 4.5 million notebooks in the month. The company pointed out that drop in October shipments was due to its clients having brought forward their shipment schedule to September as they increased the shipment proportion through a marine route, which takes longer to arrive to the destination.

Quanta expects its November notebook shipments will be higher than 4.5 million units in October, but will not surpass the five million units shipped in September. However, shipments in December will drop due to seasonality.

On the other hand, Wistron announced consolidated revenues of NT$52.91 billion for October, down 14.8% on month and 0.6% on year, while shipping 2.35 million notebooks, 800,000 desktop PCs, 500,000 LCD TVs, 700,000 handheld devices, 800,000 LCD monitors and 130,000 servers.

Wistron expects its notebook shipments will grow 0-5% in the fourth quarter, up from 7.05 million units in the third, while its other product lines will all see flat performance sequentially in shipments, except LCD TV, which is expected to drop gradually after September.

Inventec has announced revenues of NT$31.97 billion, up 16% on month, while shipping 1.3 million notebooks. The company expects its fourth-quarter notebook shipments to grow 5% compared to the third quarter's four million units.
