On 25 September, the 20th session of "Transportation 7+1 Forum" was held in Beijing. The conference was organized by SINOTRANS & CSC and sponsored by Traffic & Transportation System Engineering Special Commission under System Engineering Society of China. With "Practice and Innovation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management" as its theme, the conference was presided over by Professor Yu Jingyuan, a famous system engineering expert, and Mr. Zhang Guowu, Secretary General of the Forum and professor of Beijing Jiaotong University. More than 140 experts, scholars and related leaders from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, Ministry of Transport of the PRC, Ministry of Railways, Civil Aviation Administration of China, Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Beijing Jiaotong University and China Communications and Transportation Association attended the conference.
At the conference, Vice President Dong Jianjun made a speech entitled "Promoting Rapid Development of Modern Logistics through Innovation and Cooperation". General Manager of Transportation Management Dept. Xiao Xing, on behalf of SINOTRANS & CSC, delivered a speech entitled "Innovation and Practice in Logistics of SINOTRANS & CSC". Wei Yong, Director of Transportation and Logistics Department, Bureau of Economic Operations Adjustment, National Development and Reform Commission, and other leaders gave speeches respectively on practice and development of logistics industry in China, logistics finance innovation and service, application of internet of things in logistics industry, and construction of logistics theories. Wang Qingyun, Director of State Bureau of Material Reserve, and Zhou Ganzhi, the former Vice Minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering summarized the contents of the conference.
Through this Forum the leaders and experts present have got a deeper understanding about the opinions of all sectors on the new researches and applications in the field of logistics, which is conducive to enhancing active cooperation among different industries. Also, the Forum helps to promote the development and innovation in China's logistics theories and practices, and further heightens the reputation and influence of SINOTRANS & CSC.
To our knowledge, "Transportation 7+1 Forum" is a non-governmental academic platform initiated by such experts as Shi Dinghuan, Wang Qingyun, Zhao Wenzhi, Ning Bin, Yu Jingyuan, Huang Min, Duan Liren, Zhang Guowu and Li Xuewei. Taking exchange, communication and cooperation as its main objectives and combining the theories and methods in system engineering, the Forum explores the issues related with transportation and logistics from the perspective of theories and practices.
Since 29 October, 2005, the Forum has witnessed the hosting of 20 sessions up to today. The theme of this session "Practice and Innovation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management" was put forward by SINOTRANS & CSC.
