The Mayor of Dongguan Mr. Li Yuquan last Sunday kicked off a 10-day business trip to South Korea and Japan to invite more Korean and Japanese corporations to invest in his city.
The Mayor is set to visit Seoul, Suwon and Jeju Island in South Korea, and Tokyo, Hakone, Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka in Japan. During his trip the Mayor will visit some corporate headquarters which have set up plants in Dongguan, and will give some investment pitches in those cities.
According to the Mayor, Dongguan could be the destination for a new round of industry transfer from Japan and South Korea.
From January to September this year, 20 Korean corporations set up their plants in Dongguan, bringing a total investment of 70.18 million US dollars. The investment represents a jump of 75.27% compared with the same period of last year. Meanwhile, Dongguan also attracts 98.11 million US dollars of new investment from Japan, with an increase of 19.22% compared to the same period last year.
Dongguan Government hopes the Mayor s trip could attract more high-end and emerging industries from the two countries to Dongguan.
