(23 May 2008 - Beijing) The earthquake occurred at 2.30pm on 12 May 2008 took tens of thousands of lives and turned cities into ruins. Victims are now struggling in pain.
The central government reacted swiftly with the Party Secretary sending his orders for rescue efforts at the earliest possible time while the ground zero saw arrival of the Premier, troops from the People s Liberation Army, donations and relief supplies.
China Oilfield Services Limited ( COSL or the Company , HKSE stock code: 2883, SSE stock code: 601808) arranged an emergency mobilization gathering donations to support the disaster relief operations in the area stricken by the earthquake.
On 14 May 2008, COSL donated RMB2 million in its corporate capacity to the Red Cross Society of China to assist relief operations and the subsequent rehabilitation in the area. With eyeballs from all parts of the country attracted to the area, the disaster touched hearts of all staff members of COSL, kicking start a full-blown campaign gathering monetary donations.
On 20 May 2008, COSL staff donated another RMB1.48 million.
On 22 May 2008, COSL staff continued their unrelenting devotion with another RMB4.109 million donated in the form of special party expenses.
While expressing condolences to victims who lost their relatives and homes, COSL spared no effort in keeping its contributions going. Until lately, COSL donated RMB7.595 million in aggregate to the quake-stricken areas.
