COSL was named an Outstanding Socially Responsible Enterprise in 2010

China Oilfield Services Limited COSL or the Group says the Group was recently named one of the Top 80 Outstanding Socially Responsible Enterprises during the Annual Meeting of Socially Responsible Enterprises 2010 with a theme Moving Towards Total Social Responsibility Management .
The sweeping global financial crisis posed unprecedented challenges to COSL during the course of 2009. COSL proactively enacted measures to overcome various difficulties. Not only had the Group met all operating targets for the year, it also shouldered its corporate social responsibilities in the areas of safety and environment protection, energy saving and emission reduction, employment and employee interests protection, technological innovations, inland revenue contributions and community welfare, thereby safeguarded the integrity of the Group s sustainable development.

The Annual Meeting for this year was jointly hosted by China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, China Charity Federation, Chinese Private Capital Economy Research Symposium and China Enterprise News Agency. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the understanding, promotion and marketing of corporate social responsibilities among enterprises in China, so as to lead and encourage them to shoulder their corporate social responsibilities more proactively.

The 200 finalist enterprises were picked from 500 candidates that had been chosen from 1,000 targeted entities. It was from this finalist pool that the 80 winning enterprises were elected by a panel of judges with reference to the Expert Assessment Mechanism for Corporate Social Responsibilities in China 2010 .

This award represents another endorsement for the inroads the Group made in the area of corporate social responsibility after it had been enlisted one of the 100 finalists in China Corporate Social Responsibility Special Awards in 2009.
