The Promotion Seminar on Investment in Wafangdian - China's Bearing Capital and Coastal Economic Zone, sponsored by the Dalian Municipal Government and organized by the Wafangdian Government, was held yesterday. On behalf of Liaoning Provincial Committee of the CPC and the Provincial Government, Chen Zhenggao, deputy secretary of Liaoning Provincial Committee of the CPC and governor of Liaoning Province, wrote a congratulatory letter to the seminar. Wang Ruixiang, chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation, and Xia Deren, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Liaoning Committee and secretary of the Dalian Party Committee, delivered speeches. Li Wancai, deputy secretary of the Dalian Party Committee and mayor of Dalian, made an opening address. The municipal leaders Liu Junwen, Wang Ping and Qian Zhongjie, Assistant Mayor Liu Yan and Secretary-General Xu Guochen of the Dalian Municipal Government attended the seminar. Vice Mayor Sun Guangtian presided over the seminar.
In his letter, Chen Zhenggao said the investment promotion seminar is very important at a crucial time of Wafangdian s revitalization and development, which will certainly make the city famous and influential, speed up the city s economic development and macro-urbanization, and bring about a new round of larger exploitation, broader opening-up and greater development. He expects that Wafangdian will take the seminar as an opportunity to get a quick start, build a world-class industrial base with bearing R&D, production and sales in one entity, step as early as possible into the top ten counties among the top hundred counties nationwide, and become an influential emerging industrial city around the Bohai area.
Wang Ruixiang said in his speech that Wafangdian has enjoyed its reputation and influence throughout the nation. In 2007, it was awarded the China's Bearing Capital and in 2008 the Top 50 of China s Bearing Industry , which are honors Wafangdian well deserves with its participation, attention and contribution to China s Bearing Industry. He expects that Wafangdian will develop a bigger and stronger bearing industry and make good use of the calling card China's Bearing Capital to make a greater contribution to China s bearing industry.
Xia Deren said that Wafangdian is the hometown and cradle of China s bearing industry. For the last few years, with the concern and support of superior leaders, relevant departments and people from all walks of life, in line with the concept of scientific development, Wafangdian has vigorously developed the county economy, stepped up urban transformation, promoted opening up and development and rapidly improved the city's comprehensive strength. Currently, Dalian is drawing up the 12th Five-Year Plan ; in the next five years, Dalian will spare no effort to accelerate macro-urbanization, speed up the construction of the International Shipping Center of Northeast Asia, International Logistics Center of Northeast Asia, Regional Financial Center and the Modern Service Industry Cluster. Great changes in the overall industrial layout will create more space for the development of Wafangdian. As a strategic focus in the plan for Opening and Development of Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone, Wafangdian has always had important status both in the overall development of Dalian and macro-urbanization, in particular since it has formed an industrial cluster featuring the bearing industry. He expects more investors and traders will show great concern about Wafangdian s development, reach more agreements of intent and sign more cooperation projects in Wafangdian in order to together build a more beautiful and harmonious Wafangdian.
Li Wancai said that since the plan of opening and developing the Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone has been approved into the national strategies, Dalian has seized the opportunity to keep abreast with it, setting a strategic goal for macro-urbanization and the new strategic development leap forward. As China s Bearing Capital and the leading county in Northeast, Wafangdian has to bear heavy responsibility with its unique geographical advantages and great economic strength. Since 2010, Wafangdian has set a target for development as Coastal development, Wa-Chang interaction, Macro planning , accelerated the construction of the "two axes, one belt, three parks, four districts," striving for a modern competitive emerging industrial city around the Bohai area. Currently, Wafangdian Coastal Economic Zone has been approved as a key area of the Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone, with which the opening and development of the Wafangdian coastal area have achieved staggering results as the factors of projects, funds and personnel have rapidly converged and accumulated. Li expects that men of insight of all circles from home and abroad will continue to show concern for Wafangdian, choose Wafangdian and invest in Wafangdian for mutual benefit and a win-win situation through sincere and friendly cooperation. Nearly 500 leaders of relevant departments of Dalian, traders from home and abroad, chairmen of various associations from other cities or provinces in Dalian offices, heads of enterprises directly under Dalian, the province and the state and representatives from all walks of life in Wafangdian attended the seminar. Zhao Yang, deputy secretary of Wafangdian Party Committee and mayor of Wafangdian made a presentation. Agreements for 139 projects with a total investment of 750 billion yuan have been brought about at the seminar.
