National Postgraduate Summer School in Ultrasound Therapy Held in CQMU

The opening ceremony of 2008 National Postgraduate Summer School was held in the International Conference Hall of CQMU on the morning of July 15th, 2008. This summer school is sponsored by Ministry of Education of China and National Natural Science Foundation Committee, undertaken by Medical Ultrasound National Engineering Research Center, CQMU, and assisted by Chongqing Education Commission.
As an important project of the postgraduate education innovation plan of Ministry of Education, the summer school aims to make the most of the education resources home and abroad and to provide a forefront platform for the education and communication between postgraduates nationwide.

More than 100 students attended the summer school, including 6 foreign students from Italy, Spain and New Zealand, over 50 students from 17 well-known universities in China, such as Fudan University, Capital Medical University, Beijing Industry University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Huazhong Science University, Southeast University, Sichuan University and over 40 doctors from the General Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Affiliated Hospital of Haerbin Medical University and the Affiliated Hospital of Tianjing Medical University. The lectures of the summer school were also audited by 150 postgraduates and teachers from the Third Military Surgeon University, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing Engineering College as well as our university.
The summer school which was hosted by CQMU indicated our important role and unique status in the field of Ultrasound Therapy. National Ministry of Education specially sent a congratulatory letter for the successful opening, which said that this was a grand occasion for the postgraduates in this field and hoped that they could not only learn the knowledge but also learn from the learning style of the units which undertook this event.

Prof. Lei Han, President of CQMU, and Mr. Mou Yanlin, Vice-director of Chongqing Education Commission made speeches at the opening ceremony and expressed their best wishes for the summer school and ardent hope to all the students. Prof. Feng Ruo, the famous expert in acoustics from Nanjing University made a speech on behalf of the teachers of the summer school. As a scholar in this field, Prof. Feng was so glad to see the development of Ultrasound Therapy. He encouraged the students to raise questions, participate in the discussion, learn from the research team of CQMU, and conduct further research into the Ultrasound Therapy technology.
Mr. Dong Erdan, deputy director of National Natural Science Foundation Committee made a speech at the ceremony. He said that the name of the forum?? ???Dajia??? which meant ???everyone????? had the implication that everyone exchanged with others, everyone could benefit and everyone could get achievements. He also wished the summer school a great success. He believed that the summer school would help to promote the development in Ultrasound Therapy, and strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in this field.
Prof. Wu Junru, Dean of Physics Department in Vermont University, the academician of American Acoustics Association and American Biology Ultrasound Association, was appointed as the visiting professor of CQMU. President Lei Han issued him the letter of appointment at the opening ceremony.
At last, the experts and students attending this summer school took a group photo and with this started the two-week instruction, research and discussion.
