On September 11th, Huizhou University welcomed freshmen from various regions of China. Scrolls and posters were everywhere on campus, greeting new arrivals. Staff were busy receiving freshmen.
Administrators Visited New Students
University leaders Li Xiufeng, Yang Haitao, Zhao Rixing, Peng Yonghong, accompanied by other staff, came to inspect the registration area.
At about 9:00 a.m. the leaders visited the reception of the Department of Physical Education, the Foreign Language Department, the Department of Music, and the Dept. of Ideology & Political Theory Instruction, asking about their work and advising them to finish the work efficiently. At this time, Secretary Li met a student from Xinjiang and asked about the student s registration. Secretary Li also spent time introducing the weather of Guangdong Province to a student from Inner Mongolia, and said that the study atmosphere here is strong, so parents needn t worry about their children.
The leaders later left the reception for the student canteen, inspecting the dining hall and the canteen service. Soon afterwards, they went to the new student dormitories to inspect the conditions and the supporting facilities. They talked to students parents and relatives, and encouraged freshmen to get adjusted to campus life as soon as possible.
In an interview, President Yang said that this year HZU enrolled 4,374 students, breaking HZU s historical enrollment numbers. He also said that students recruiting will aim to develop greater diversification in the future.
Registrations took place in an orderly way. HZU s administration office and various departments worked in harmony. Each performed its specific function to insure freshmen registration went smoothly and quickly.
Every department s service teams, student loan information desks, tuition delayed-payment information desks, more than 500 volunteers, medical services, food services and campus security worked in an orderly way, and provided the considerable service for freshmen and their parents.
We learned from Green Channel that large number of registering students had lined up in front of the many consultants. These senior students patiently explained the procedure to a student from He Yuan who didn t know the policy for tuition delayed-payment. Their patient explanations ere praised by both students and parents.
By Sept. 13th at 5:00 p.m., the number of freshmen registered was 4209 and the registration completion rate was 96.2%.
