Upon the invitation of Office of International Relations, a delegation headed by Dr. Tai Shzee Yew, Vice-Chancellor of University Putra Malaysia (UPM) visited SCAU on December 2, 2009.
Vice President Liao Ming warmly welcomed the guests and the two sides held a friendly talk. Each side briefed the profile of the university, scientific research, instruction and international exchanges respectively. Liao pointed out that China and Malaysia shared many similarities in culture, education and other fields. SCAU and UPM also had a number of similar disciplines, further academic exchanges and cooperation could be carried out in the future.
During the talk, the two sides discussed the possibilities of exchanging students and taking internship in Malaysian companies. Besides, the delegation also visited College of Forestry and had a discussion with the experts from the Department of Wood Processing and Material Science. Dr. Tai Shzee Yew hoped that UPM could carry out cooperation in wood processing with SCAU.
The University Putra Malaysia (UPM) was founded in 1931 and it was the largest university in Malaysia with 30,000 students. UPM had 15 colleges, 11 centers and 10 research institutes and it ranked the third among all Malaysian universities.
