December 30, 2010. Wang Weicheng, mayor of Changzhou People s Government, gave a lecture entitled Changzhou: its past, present and future to students and faculties of Changzhou University. He had a face-to-face conversation with over 400 students, teachers and school leaders on Wujin Campus, and over 600 people watched the video of the lecture live via internet on Baiyun Campus. The mayor s lecture is widely covered by the major media from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province and the nation.
Starting from the glorious past of Changzhou, the mayor introduced the history and celebrities of Changzhou. The city is now witnessing a flourishing development with lots of achievement in economy, living standards and environment protection. The city will have a promising future with its sun-rising industries, an ideal living environment, and greater development of Changzhou University. Wang Weicheng encouraged CZU students to aim high and work hard, and to contribute more to the development of Changzhou. He also answered enthusiastically the questions from students and teachers about the protection of intangible cultural heritage of Changzhou, the future of CZU, the livelihoods of Changzhou citizens, the construction of new city library, and also employment of college students, etc.
Shi Guodong, CPC Party Secretary of CZU, hosted and summarized the lecture. The mayor impressed his audience with vivid language, specific statistics, and great contrast of the past and future. People can never forget the glorious past of Changzhou, they take great pride on the flourishing present of Changzhou, and they also long for the future development of Changzhou. Shi claimed that CZU will contribute more to the development of Changhzou and he had great confidence in the future of the university.
