On June 23rd , Mr. Joerg Beiler, DNV Vice President and Area Chair for Greater China gave a lecture titled Pathway to Low Carbon Shipping and LNG as Fuel for SMU students.

He introduced the necessity of low carbon shipping, effective ways to reduce carbon emissions, and elaborated on usage of natural gas as short-distance transport fuel. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU spoke highly of the lecture.

On 28 November 2009, Mr. Beiler was appointed as SMU Visiting Professor.
