Recently, Yu Yiting, a PhD candidate from the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Micro/Nano Systems at NPU, was informed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation that he had won the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship and will go to IMTEK at University Freiburg in June to carry out a two-year research program there. His winning of the research fellowship demonstrates NPU's capability for education. The foundation was established in 1860 and aims at sponsoring the excellent scholars all over the world to do academic research in Germany. Under the guidance of Professor Yuan Weizheng, a Cheung Kung scholar and his tutor, PhD Candidate Yu Yiting does research on micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and micro/ nano sysems-integrated manufacturing technology. While at NPU, he participated in the completion of the 863/MEMS project and the projects by the National Science Foundation of China. He published 22 papers in all, 7 having access to SCI and 20 access to EI. His six applications for patent of invention were approved. He won the first prize of Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award.
