Visits of World Famous Mechanics Scholars

In October, 2009, the International Conference on Fracture Mechanics (FM2009) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Seizing this chance, the School of Mechanics (SWJTU) invited three world famous scholars and they carried out a short-term academic visit. The three scholars are Professor Yan Xingzhong, and Liu Jijie, dean and professor respectively from Materials Technology Center of Southern Illinois University, America, and Professor Dr. B.Zupancic from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

During the visit, each scholar made a report to the teachers and students of the School of Mechanics, SWJTU. They introduced the international frontier issues like damage and fracture, structural integrity analysis, which broadened the students eyes. Later they discussed in depth some topics related to fatigue, damage and fracture, meanwhile, they made an agreement on future cooperation and exchange.
