On the morning of Dec. 10, the 5th International Conference of Chinese Architectural History, co-hosted by Chinese Society of Architectural History and SCUT, was held at the Shaw Building of Science. More than 110 scholars from Britain, U.S.A., Italia, Japan, mainland China, Taiwan, Marco and Hong Kong etc. attended the opening ceremony.
With a focus on the problems come across in urban developments and architectural developments of China, the conference tried to seek solutions via reviewing and discussing Chinese urban history, architectural history as well as theories and practices in architectural heritage protection. Moreover, a distribution ceremony of works by architects such as LONG Qingzhong, WU Qingzhou and CHENG Jianjun was also held at the opening ceremony.
It is learned that the International Conference on Chinese Architectural History is held every three years, the aim of which is to promote academic researches on Chinese architectural history, both home and abroad. It represents the top academic activity in the field of Chinese architectural history.
