On Nov. 29, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Conference on Catalysis (NCC) was being held at Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. The conference issued the 3rd National Catalysis Award. Academician WAN Huilin from Xiamen University received the National Catalysis Award; SHEN Wenjie from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS together with Prof.
WANG Ye from Xiamen University received the National Catalysis Prize for Young Scientists. It should be mentioned that the National Catalysis Award which being issued every two years stands as the top honor for the scholars in the field of catalysis, and that the National Catalysis Prize is set up for those young scientists who contribute to the development of catalytic science with creative innovations.
Sponsored by Catalysis Specialty Committee of Chinese Chemical Society, the 15th NCC was organized by School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, SCUT with a theme of "catalytic science and technology in the background of low carbon economy". The 5-day conference composed of 4 plenary lectures delivered by Prof.
Johannes Lercher, former president of International Catalysis Society as well as chief editor of Journal of Catalysis, Academician ZHAO Dongyuan and HE Mingyuan etc., 32 keynote speeches, more than 220 oral presentations and over 1,400 poster presentations, attracting more than 1500 people from over 200 national higher education institutions and research institutes.
