HNU Postgraduate Man s Basketball Team Marches Final

On the night of Nov. 11^th, the semi-final of the 7th Hunan Postgraduate Man s Basketball Association was held in National University of Defense Technology. Our university met the defending champion-Hunan University of Science and Technology (HUST). After fierce competition, HUN outplayed HUST 64-50, marching into the final.

Full of irresistible aspiration and courage, our players scored seven successive points at the very beginning. The first battle ended with our impressive 26-9 lead. In the second quarter, each team had its gains and losses with the score rising alternatively. Finally an exciting buzzer beater from our team froze the score 42-26.Both team players fought valiantly, so did the cheer leaders. And waves of applause and cheers rose one after another. During the break, our cheer leader amazed the spectators with their fabulous aerobics performances. In the second half, the competition became white-hot as both teams were unwilling to be outdone, with the atmosphere on and off the court reaching the climax.The match came to a deadlock when HUST continued to tighten up their defense. Just at this critical moment, our team, with a competent point guard Tang Wanke, withstanding strong pressure and paying more attention to group coordination, launched many swift and fierce attacks to break the bastion of iron of HUST time after time and won many successive scores. Finally our basketball players had the score 64-50 fixed by superior individual ability and good team work, advancing towards the final.
Last year, our university missed its four straight win by five points with great pity against HUST. This victory avenged for the loss ultimately. Under the close attention of the Postgraduate Office and after one year s diligentpreparation, our basketball team fought for honor, striving for the champion this year. On the night of Nov. 12^th, our team will face National University of Defense Technology for the title.
During the quarter-final held in the morning, our postgraduate men s basketball team, which had early won the qualification for the second round, won over Changsha University of Science & Technology 54-30 with ease in the Third Department of the gymnasium of National University of Defense Technology.
