4 Papers on Student Affairs Included in Int'l Conference

Recently, some teachers working in the students affairs office of the college of computer science and technology were informed by the Organizing Committee of the 12th Asia-Pacific Student Services Association Conference: four papers of them were included in the conference.



These four papers are: Bringing Enterprises around College Students: A Discussion of the Improvement of Students' Innovation with ESIA authored by Zheng Qiang, Jiang Wenhai and Zhang Shaohao; The Research and Practice of Needy College Students by Zhang Shaohao and Zheng Qiang; Some Effective Measures to Help Post 90's College Freshman Position and Adapt to College Life by Ge Rong and Xie Yuxiang; The Application of the Theory of Holland Vocational Interest in the Training of Student's Professional Interest by Liu Shixian and Zheng Qiang. Meanwhile, Zheng Qiang was invited by the organizing committee to make a special report about his paper.



The Asia-Pacific Student Services Association was an international organization doing researches on student affairs, composed by leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region. The general meeting was hosted by the association every 2 years, carrying out academic exchanges. Papers included or exchanged in the meeting will be reviewed by the international experts. Those papers usually reflect the latest achievements and high academic standards about international student affairs.



The 11th Asia-Pacific Student Services Association Conference was held at HUST in 2008. After that, our students affairs teams conducted special research around the characteristics and actual situation of students' affairs. In the recent 2 years, all the members in the students affairs office carried out serious research around the theme of the the 12th Conference.


Zheng Qiang and Jiang Wenhai went to Baidu, Tencent, Huawei and other famous enterprises to make their in-depth investigations. They introduced the characteristics of innovative enterprise-based students associations, and made contributive exploration and practice in fostering students' scientific and technological innovation ability. Based on the completion his project "The Effective Measures and Long-Term Valid Mechanism in Helping Poor Students Psychologically" supported by HUST special stduents-work research fund , Zhang Shaohao explored an effective way and long-term mechanism on how to help those poor students psychologically. Ge Rong and Xie Yuxiang went to students class in-depth, carried out their work according to "born-in-90s" Freshmen's ideals and behaviors, helping the young to adjust themselves and adapt to college life. After gaining his GCDF Global Career Development Facilitator certificate, Liu Shixian applied "Holland Vocational Interest Theory" to help students identify their personal career interests, to find the common points of their personal interests and social needs, so to foster spcialty interest to suit the future occupation.
