From the meeting of the 2011 National Construction High Level University Government-Sponsored Graduate Student Project, it is learned that 145 SDU graduate students have been granted scholarships to study abroad. The number ranks 4th among national universities.

Among these students, 79 are Ph.D. students who are studying abroad for a doctoral degree and 66 for joint doctoral education. These scholarship students are from the SDU 985 Technological Innovation Platform, national key disciplines and State Key Laboratories. They will study in universities of North America and Europe. About 36% students will study in famous universities ranking within the Top 100 in the world, including Harvard University, Yale University, and Oxford University.
