The agricultural organizations are sorry that in two key countries for the entrance of products coming from Morocco, like Spain and France, are not more forceful.
The agricultural organizations, representing their farmers, have for years, denouncing that in different fruit and vegetable producing countries, specially on the Mediterranean border, production has no kind of objective towards the environment or the health security. In the last few days, the Quick Alert System for Food (RASFF) published various alerts coming from those territories.
The problem lies in the fact that two of the main countries where the most Moroccan agricultural products enter Europe, Spain and France, do less controls on goods, or find less residues in the shipments.
During the first half of March, RASFF published a total of six health alerts in fruits and vegetables coming from third party countries. Concretely, on the 2nd day they found residues of malathion in shipments of mandarines from Morocco (0,073 mg/kg). Two alerts were published on the 7th from goods coming from Jordan, one of cucumber and other of peppers. Both with procymidone.
Later, on the 9th, 11th and 14th residues of methomyl were detected in peppers coming from Turkey.
