The Fourth Beijing International Art Biennale is on view

Sponsored by the China Federation of literary and Art Circles, the Beijing municipal government and the China Artists Association, the Fourth Beijing International Art Biennale entitled Ecology and Homeland is currently on display at Hall 1 -9, Hall 19, 20 and 21 until Oct. 4. The exhibition comprises a total of 562 works by hundreds of domestic and overseas artists from 85 countries, including paintings, sculptures, devices, video and miscellaneous works.

The biennale has attracted a total of 85 countries across the globe. The theme of the exhibition is of increasing strong social awareness and value expanding from the essence issue of the art to the global issue. Based on on-shelf painting including the traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings and sculptures, the exhibition adds such new media as devices and videos, strengthening the expression of the theme.

The exhibits cover a wide range of contemporary styles popular in the oriental and western world and fully reflect the trend of the diversity of the art in the world. The works comprises a total of 398 overseas works and 164 domestic works, most of which are critical, cautionary and positive.

Besides the theme exhibition, Chile Special Exhibition and Austria Special Exhibition mainly reflect the contemporary art with distinctive style in the two nations. The majority of twelve participants for Chile Special Exhibition are witnesses and survivors of the earthquake this February, recording the tsunami brought about by the quake and the common ecological crisis in the form of photograph and device.
