CSR MUs put into formal operation on Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway through 7-month successful test and trial operation

August 1, Shanghai Securities News It was reported that China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corporation Limited CSR that the first batch of six MUs with a speed of 300km/h or above independently researched, developed and manufactured by CSR Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. CSR Sifang, a subsidiary of CSR, had been qualified through 7-month strict tests, verifications and trial operations, and was put into operation today on the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, a supporting project of the Beijing Olympics and China s first high-speed intercity railway, to serve the Beijing Olympics, which will greatly facilitate the intercity transportation between Beijing and Tianjin.

The MUs with a speed of 300km/h or above were independently developed, designed and manufactured by CSR Sifang on the basis of introducing the foreign technical platform for MUs with a speed of 200km/h and assimilating its advantages, with the first homemade one with a speed of 300km/h or above manufactured and released offline at the end of last year.

According to the operation features and line conditions of Chinese railways, the high-speed MUs made a series of independent innovations in such aspects as dynamics, system integration, body, bogie, traction system, brake system, environmental control system and passenger service system, thus reaching world advanced level in overall technical grade.

To ensure the smooth operations of the MUs, CSR Sifang, under the organization of the Ministry of Railways, scientifically and precisely conducted 7-month strict tests and trial operations of them. It successively completed the performance tests, type tests and line tests of the loop line, Qinhuangdao-Shenyang Line and Beijing-Tianjin Line, covering nearly 200 test items in 17 categories such as traction performance, dynamics performance, current collection of bow nets and aerodynamics.

Since July 1, CSR Sifang has conducted one-month trial operation of the first batch of six MU trains on the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway by simulating the status of normal operation. The results of all tests and trial operations showed that the high-performance MUs were outstanding in such indices as stability and safety.

As China s largest manufacturer of rail transportation equipment, CSR has been focusing on the R & D of high-speed MUs. CSR Sifang, a subsidiary of CSR, is a key domestic undertaker of the projects of MUs with a speed of 200km/h and 300km/h or above. In recent years, by integrating introduction and assimilation of foreign advanced technologies with independent innovation, CSR Sifang has successfully established three world advanced technical platforms for design, manufacturing and product of high-speed MU trains, thus forming a complete system for sustained R & D and manufacturing of high-speed MU trains. The 60 CRH2 MUs with a speed of 200km/h or above researched and manufactured by CSR Sifang have been put into operation as marked equipment in the sixth great speedup campaign before; the long-grouped MUs with independent intellectual property rights have been released offline and put into operation; and the world first long-formation sleeping MUs will also be unveiled soon. In February this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Railways jointly issued the Program for Joint Action of Chinese High-speed Trains; CSR Sifang has become a leading researcher and manufacturer of the MUs running on Beijing-Tianjin High-speed Railway at a speed of 350km/h or above, and has comprehensively launched the research and manufacturing of the MUs.

According to the latest report, the first batch of 3 long-formation MUs 16 trains a group with independent intellectual property rights researched and manufactured by CSR Sifang has been put into formal operation in the Shanghai-Zhengzhou section and Shanghai-Hefei section.
