CSR High-speed EMU with Speed over 300 Kilometers per Hour to Be Put into Operation before Olympics

According to the latest news, first domestic high-speed EMU with the speed over 300 kilometers and over per hour has successfully rolled off the assembly line, and CSR has quickly entered into mass production stage, the first five EMUs with the speed of 300 kilometers and over per hour will be put into operation in Beijing-Tianjin inter-city railway before Olympics. By then, it will only cost half an hour from Beijing to Tianjin.

On December 22, 2007, first domestic Harmony CRH2-300 successfully rolled off the assembly line in CSR Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., which was the great achievement after the full implementation of independent innovation strategy in railway industry, signifies that the technology of Chinese railway passenger transport equipments reached international advanced level, and China has thus become one of the few countries who can independently develop MU with the speed over 300 kilometers per hour.

Harmony CRH with the speed over 300 kilometers per hour, based on the introduction and absorption of technology of foreign EMU with the speed of 200 kilometers per hour, was independently developed in China and was one of the EMUs with the fastest speed in the world at present. The EMUs adopt lightweight aluminum body, high-speed bogie, high-speed pantograph as well as AC drive, integrated fiber-optic network control and other advanced technology, especially the large section hollow aluminum body with the weight of about seven tons.

The whole lightweight design reaches the international leading level with the functions of energy-saving and environmental protection.

All the CRH is seat-only, wide-body structure, features streamlined aerodynamic shape and has excellent aerodynamic performance. To further adapt to travelling habits of the Chinese people, the train designed with new train ventilation system, multimedia video system, vacuum excrement cleaning system, personalized service dining areas and the disabled toilet, among others, highlighting humanized design features with Chinese characteristics.

To further enhance the stability and comfort of CRH in the high speed state, the train is also designed with semi-active suspension system, emergency ventilation system and carriage shock absorber, etc.

It s said that this CRH started testing at the end of last December, and has successfully completed ring-line test of China Academy of Railway Sciences CARS, test in Qinhuangdao-Shenyang rail line and performance test in Beijing-Tianjin rail line. The testing results showed that each technical performance of CRH was excellent.

CSR Sifang, as an industrialization manufacturing base for high-speed train, adhere to the integration of introduction, digestion and absorption of advanced overseas technology and independent innovation, obtaining great achievements on the design and manufacturing of high-speed train with the speed between 200 and 300 kilometers and above. Harmony CRH2 with the speed over 200 kilometers was the symbolic equipments of the sixth national railway speed-increase. As of November 2007, 60 Harmony CRH2 were put into operation.

It s reported that in the Chinese high-speed train independent innovation joint action plan announced recently by Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Railways, CSR Sifang has been identified as leading developing and manufacturing unit for high-speed train with the speed of 350 kilometers and above, providing equipment support for the development of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and Chinese high-speed railway network in accordance with the autonomation route.
