The second session of "Mango Radio-Happy and Peaceful Chinese Festivals" was launched by Hunan People's Radio Station at Tianxin Pavilion in Changsha on Dec.31.

From Spring Festival which falls on Feb.3 2011 to the Double Ninth Festival on Oct.5, 2011, seven grand promotion activities will be carried out to show the charm of traditional Chinese festivals to the world.

According to the schedule, about one million Chinese people will be organized to paste couplets and initiate the application of Chinese traditional festivals for the World Cultural Heritage during the Spring Festival. Nine famous historic and cultural cities will jointly celebrate the Lantern Festival which falls on Feb.17, 2011. Nearly 100 Hunanese will go to Beijing to sweep the tombs of former Chairman Mao Zedong and the people's heroes on Qingming Festival (Tomb-sweeping Day) on April 5. Nine overseas Chinese dragon boat teams and the mainland dragon boat team will race against one another on the Miluo River on Dragon Boat Festival which is observed on June 6. This year's Qixi Festival-Double Seventh Day will see lovers parties in foreign countries. The three nationwide famous ancient towers, namely, Yueyang Tower, Yellow Crane Tower and Tengwangge Pavilion, will jointly present a party on the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sept.12 when people enjoy the glorious full moon. On the Double Ninth Festival, Oct. 5, volunteers will join in the activities to show their care and love to empty nest elders.
