On August, 12th, the State Grid Company Ultra-high voltage (UHV) AC/DC demonstration project summery and awards ceremony was grandly held in Beijing Jingxi Hotel. The ceremony was attended by Li Xueyong, secretary of the party leadership group and vice minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, Huang Danhua, deputy director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), Wang Yeping, vice chairman of State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), Qian Zhimin, deputy chief of National Energy Administration, Ai Baojun, vice mayor of Shanghai, Chen Wenhua, vice governor of Sichuan province; Cao Guangjing, president and secretary of the party leadership group of the Three Gorges Company; and relevant state ministries, local party committee and government, science and research , design, manufacturing, building , operation and other relevant organization of electric field, enterprises, academicians, experts, college representatives, the main enterprises contributing to and participating in the project. Liu Jizhen, president of NCEPU was invited and be seated in the front of the rostrum.
The Central Committee and the State Council give priority to UHV. Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang, Zhou Yongkang, Zhang Dejiang and others from the central leadership all have made important instructions, fully affirmed the work of UHV and raised expectations and demands.
At the ceremony, important instructions from Zhang Dejiang, vice premier, was announced. He affirmed that UHV AC/DC demonstration project opens a new way for West-to-East Electricity Transmission, which makes China the first country of the world to build and operate UHV AC/DC project for transmitting and transforming electricity and play a leading role in electricity network theory research, engineering building, operation management, standard setting etc. of the world.
President of State Grid Company, secretary of the party leadership group, Liu Zhenya gave an important speech in the ceremony. He said the successful construction and secure operation of UHV AC/DC demonstration project proves the feasible, secure, economic and environment-protecting nature to develop UHV, which lays the foundation for various explorations of energy bases and the long-range, large-scale and high efficient electricity transmission. China is also the first to realize Made in China and China Leading in UHV electricity transmission field, contributing to a great number of Top of The World . Besides, the core technology, key equipment, engineering building, standard setting and engineering appliance all make innovative breakthroughs.
The Decision of Awarding Advanced Units and Personnel in UHV AC/DC Electricity Transmission Demonstration Project and The Notification of Awarding Important Contributing Units and Experts in State Grid UHV AC/DC Electricity Transmission Demonstration Project were announced in the ceremony, and the prominent enterprises (units), outstanding personnel and representatives from main contributing units were awarded.
NCEPU actively supports and participates in the science and technology innovative project of UHV demonstration project and has made important contributions. Therefore, our university was awarded as the main contributing unit. Hu Sangao, division chief of science and technology division of NCEPU, received pennant as the representative. At the meantime, four experts of NCEPU---Yang Qixun, Cui Xiang, Li Chengrong and Qi Lei were awarded on account of their important contributions.
