YAU holds awarding ceremony for the Scholarship of Brigid Keogh

In the morning, September 23, ceremony for awarding the scholarship of Brigid Keogh in front of the Keogh Building on the campus of YAU. YAU Vice President Hu Junsheng, founder of the scholarship Catherine Hyde and Larry Hyde, Chair of the English Linguistic Association, leaders of the Teaching Affairs Office, the Guiding Center for Employment and the Student life Office of YAU as well as some alumni and students and faculty of the YAU School of Foreign Languages attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Liang Rensheng declared the list of students who won the scholarship. Vice President Hu and Mrs. Hyde issued the scholarship. Then Mrs. Catherine Hyde donated ten thousand US dollars to Yan an University in name of her grandma Brigid Keogh.

In his speech, Vice President Hu thanked friends at home and abroad, especially Mrs. Catherine Hyde for their concerns with and support for YAU, and expressed congratulation to the students who won the scholarship. He encouraged the students to carry forward the achievements, be on guard against conceit and impetuosity, make persistent efforts to improve themselves so as to requite their parents, the school, and the society; and take Ms. Brigid Keogh as an example, foster sublime morality and spirit, and to be a person who is contributory to the society. Mrs. Hyde briefly reviewed Brigid Keogh s life in charity and education, and encouraged everybody to study constantly, and make efforts to realize the dream.
