NPU Won Group Silver Prize for the Seventh China Graduate Student Electronic Design Contest

From August 20 to 22 Tsinghua University held the final contest of the Seventh China Graduate Student Electronic Design Contest sponsored by the National Master of Engineering Professional Degree Committee under the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council and the China Society on Electronics. The electronics design work completed by the group made of Yao Tao, Zheng Qiaoshi and Zhao Lili, graduate students from School of Computer Science and Engineering at NPU, wins the group silver prize.

Zheng Qiaoshi wins the indivdual third prize; Yao Tao the individual excellent prize; Huang Xiaoping, the group adviser, wins the excellent adviser prize.

The finals that last for three days are in the form of written examination and on-the-spot design works exhibition and defending. The 15 referees, who are specialists from the well-known universities in the country and globally famous enterprises, assess the 39 groups' design works and issue five golden prizes, six silver prizes and 28 copper prizes.

Mr. Liu Rulin, the secretary-general of China Society on Electronics, is the chairman of the Contest Organization Committee; the Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Dai Hao is the chairman of the Contest Paper-making and Assessment Committee; Professor Liu Chuntian, vice president of China Intellectual Property Research Society and vice dean of the Graduate School at Renmin University of China, is the chairman of the Contest Watch-dog Committee.

Professor Li Tiehu, vice dean of the Graduate School at NPU, is one of the current contest organization committee members. The good performance at this contest demonstrates the new achievements of NPU graduate students' technical innovation.

The China Graduate Student Electronic Design Contest began in 1996. The contest, being one of the biggest scale contests in China, provides the top platform of technical exchange for graduate students' technical innovation. For the first time, the current contest conducts its preliminary contest and final contest separately. Nearly 120 graduate students in all in 39 groups from 28 graduate student education institutions passed the preliminary contest and entered the final contest; their design works were exhibited in Tsinghua University.
